Born and raised in Holdrege, Nebraska, George Lundeen went to college at Hastings, and then went on to the University of Illinois for graduate work. A Fulbright-Hays Scholarship sent Lundeen to Florence, Italy for a year where the works of the old masters inspired his ambition to sculpt for a living. Today, George lives and works in Loveland, Colorado.
“As someone views and touches a piece of my work, it is my sincere hope that they will look past that hard surface of bronze to find the life which I try so much to capture within. My Midwest/small town upbringing has been very good to me, especially because it has not only given me a firm footing from which to take off and see the world, it has also given me much of the subject matter I use today. When I think of pieces I have made in past years, such as the Flatlander, Prairie Flower or Promise of the Prairie, memories of Nebraska come back to me. Along with those memories also come back many moments during exhibitions throuhout the world when others, who have never heard of Nebra
