The opening of the exhibition Mathias Klotz – The Poetic of Boxes will be held in the Oris House of Architecture on March 27th 2015, at 8 p.m. On the occasion of exhibition opening in Zagreb, Mathias Klotz will deliver a lecture at the Faculty of Architecture at 5.30 p.m.

Klotz is one of the best known and most impressive representatives of Chilean architecture in Europe. Rooted in geographic specificities of his native Chile, conscious of the cultural and architectural legacy, but first and foremost arisen from intense exploration of users’ needs, his projects are harmonious examples of communication among man, culture and nature. He has built projects in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, China, and Lebanon. He is the recipient of numerous awards.

Held workshops at the Catholic University, Federico Santa María University, Diego Portales University, Faculty of Architecture in Venice (IUAV). Mathias Klotz Germain (born 13 April 1965)[1] is a Chilean architect born and raised in Santiago, Chile. His work spans for over 30 years. He studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, where he graduated in 1991. Winner of the Borromini Prize of Architecture in 2001[2] for under-40 architects.

Klotz together with Alejandro Aravena are among the most renowned Chilean architects of the early 21st century. His work, elegant and rooted in the Modernist tradition, has put him on the international spotlight.

Klotz is the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture of the Diego Portales University in Santiago, Chile, and is a visiting professor in multiple universities in Italy, Argentina, Mexico, Spain, and Germany. His first commission, titled "Casa Klotz", was completed in 1991 for his mother. The two-storey wooden house is located beside the seafront in Tongoy, north of Santiago.[3]

From the mid-1600s to the present, members of the Klotz (or Kloz) family have made violins in Mittenwald, Germany. Dictionaries of violin makers list more than 25 by this name.

Matthias I (1656-1743) founded the Mittenwald school of violin making after study with Jacob Stainer and Nicolo Amati.
