Mirusia Louwerse (29 de marzo de 1985) es una cantante soprano australiana.[1]​ Ella se desempeña como Mirusia y es vista como "La estrella inconvencional del Pop" y "El Ángel de Australia".[2][3]

Louwerse nació en Brisbane, Australia, y asistió a Ormiston College.[4]​ Se graduó en diciembre de 2006 del Queensland Conservatorium en Brisbane, obteniendo un Bachillerato en Música en Interpretación en Voz Clásica. En 2006, Louwerse se convirtió en la ganadora más joven del Premio Dame Joan Sutherland.[5]

Last month we had the pleasure of chatting with international classical music star, Mirusia Louwerse. Mirusia is the darling of the classical circuit, an accomplished soprano, an Aussie-Dutch hybrid, and most importantly, a Stuff Dutch People Like fan! Currently on tour in the Netherlands, we were curious to learn more about what it meant to grow up Dutch ‘down under’ and how her Orange roots influenced her career. Below are edited excerpts from our interview.

On moving to Australia

Mirusia Louwerse was born on March 29, 1985 to two Dutch parents in Brisbane, Australia. Her mom is originally from Brabant and her dad from Zeeland. Mirusia’s  parents, a boiler-maker and a nurse, moved from The Netherlands in their twenties after being granted a permanent residency visa to Australia.

Q: How did your parents end up down under?

A: They got the opportunity to go to Australia.  And they thought, well why not? They were very adventurous, so they thought let’s just do this!  They were in the paper and  they were famous, for a day. [laughs] Nowadays they would’ve probably

Mirusia Louwerse (born 29 March 1985) is a Dutch Australian soprano. She performs as 'Mirusia' and is seen by the Australian press as "The Unconventional Pop Star"

Louwerse was born in the Brisbane suburb of Birkdale. She graduated in December 2006 from the Queensland Conservatorium in Brisbane obtaining a Bachelor of Music in Performance in Classical Voice. In 2006, Louwerse became the youngest ever winner of the Dame Joan Sutherland Opera Award and went on to record a debut album entitled She Walks in Beauty.

Louwerse is a lyric soprano and has performed in such operas as Mozart's The Magic Flute, Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges and Britten's Albert Herring.

Her aunt, who lives in the Netherlands, contacted André Rieu to tell him about her niece's talent. He listened to her voice on her website and phoned her straight away and two days later she was standing before him in his studio ready to sing.
