Samantha was born in Queenstown and spent most of her young life ‘helping’ on the family farm in the Maniototo. She attended Kavanagh College (now Trinity Catholic College) in Dunedin before heading to the University of Otago to study. Samantha is a passionate Catholic educator who enjoys creating inspiring resources and working with others in sharing the Catholic faith. Samantha has taught in Catholic primary schools throughout New Zealand and the United Kingdom before she joined the NCRS team in 2021.
Samantha has two boys under 5 which keeps her very busy. They enjoy living the sunny surf life in Tairawhiti, Gisborne. The young family spend most weekends at the beach or renovating their 1960’s bungalow. Samantha has a passion for being out in nature, laughing with her kids and enjoying a good book.

Samantha Ponder (néeSteele;[1] born December 11, 1985) is an American sportscaster who most recently hosted Sunday NFL Countdown on ESPN.[2] Prior to hosting Sunday NFL Countdown, Ponder worked as a reporter and host for ESPN college football and as a basketball sideline reporter.[3] Ponder replaced Erin Andrews on College GameDay Saturdays at 10 AM ET on ESPN, as well as co-host of the Saturday 9 AM ET edition on ESPNU.[4] In addition to her duties on College Gameday, Ponder had been the regular sideline reporter for ESPN's Thursday Night College Football with Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, and David Pollack from August 2012 until 2014.[5] Ponder also appeared on the ESPN-owned Texas-oriented regional network Longhorn Network.
