El Sueño de Sigena [Sigena’s Dream] by Garcés Lambert recreates a Chapter House considered “the Sistine Chapel of European Romanesque”

The documentary film El Sueño de Sigena [Sigena’s Dream], which is participating in the DOC.Spain section at the 66th edition of Seminci, was presented this Thursday with the presence of its director, Jesús Garcés Lambert, its protagonist, Juan Emilio Naya, and the producer and screenwriter Xavier Atance.

“The story you are about to see has made me passionate, it’s changed me as a person. It’s about Juan and fifteen years of his life,” Jesús Garcés explained to the audience. The protagonist, an astrophysicist born in the town of Villanueva de Sigena, undertakes the biggest project of his life, embarking on the recreation of the chapter house of the monastery of this municipality in Aragon. From here, Juan will need to find the people and places that will help him solve this great puzzle and be able to show the chapter house, considered then the “Sistine Chapel of European Romanesque”

With an interesting interweaving of history and current affairs, and based on the story told by the Salesian Néstor Zubeldía, this production presents the journey and arrival of the first 10 missionary pioneers led by Fr John Cagliero. Sent by Don Bosco himself, they ventured into the unknown, with the sole aim of continuing the dream and mission of the Saint of the Young. They had to open paths, starting from scratch, learning or relearning practically everything, and they had to be strong. One hundred and fifty years later, the Salesians, the Salesian Family and the friends of Don Bosco are called to continue, develop and recreate that mission. But to do so, there is a need to remember and be grateful.

EL SUEÑO

”El Sueño” is a 2012 documentary film that presents four young people from Poland, who in search of great waves finally find their own paradise on the pacific coast of Mexico. Together with the film crew they end up in Puerto Escondido (Hidden Port), a small picturesque village which as a result of itsgeographical location, has become famous due to surfing. IDifferent people cross paths in this place, people who are passionate, individuals with common values and lifestyle. Here we meet a Shaman, environmentalist and former bank worker from Mexico City, as well as mysterious Martin, who are–personsople from various corners of the earth, who used to lead similar lives. Their search for passion, real emotions, love and a different ways of life forced them to come to Puerto Escondido, and change their lives. The movie is about surfing, but also pays tribute to all, who are not afraid to pursue their everlasting passion and are fascinated by every human being. Sueño.
