Emraan Anwar Hashmi (pronounced [ɪmraːn ˈɦaːʃmi]; born 24 March 1979[1] ) is an Indianactor who works in Hindi cinema. Born into the Bhatt family, he began his career as an assistant director on the horror film Raaz (2002). He made his acting debut with the crime filmFootpath (2003), and achieved his breakthrough for his starring role in the eroticthrillerMurder (2004). In 2021, Hashmi appeared opposite Yukti Thareja in T-Series music video "Lut Gaye", sung by Jubin Nautiyal.[2]

Entry into Bollywood
Emraan’s first movie was Footpath (2003) which did not fare well at the Box office. The next film, the erotic thriller Murder (2004), brought him some fame and glory. The film was declared a super hit and everyone noticed his good looks and great performance. The film also grossed Rs 250 million (US$ 4.2 million) making it a financial success.
Emraan next appeared in 2004 in the Anurag Basu movie Tumsa Nahin Dekha, however Basu was diagnosed with cancer during the shoot of the film leaving Mukesh Bhatt to complete the film. Although the film fared poorly at the box office, recognition for Emraan continued to grow as BBC online noted that ‘he was becoming fabulous with every film.’ By 2005, Emraan acted in the film Zeher, wherein he portrayed a chief of police, got positive reviews and the movie was a moderate success grossing Rs. 100 million.
